JERUSALEM, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Israeli basketball champion Maccabi Tel Aviv announced on Wednesday that it will relocate its EuroLeague home games to Limassol, Cyprus, after receiving approval from league management.
Since the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East in October 2023, Maccabi has played most of its home games at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall in Belgrade, Serbia.
Maccabi has consistently expressed a preference for hosting games in Cyprus, less than an hour's flight from Israel. However, Cypriot authorities had previously refused permission on security grounds.
The club will now host its games at the 8,000-capacity Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center in Limassol. Its first game at the new venue will be a derby against Hapoel Tel Aviv on November 12. ■
