BOGOTA, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Former Arsenal and Colombia international goalkeeper David Ospina announced his retirement on Wednesday after a professional career spanning more than two decades.
The decision follows an injury-plagued spell at Mexico's Atlante, whom he joined on a free transfer in July.
"I will go wherever my smile takes me," Ospina said in a social media post. "I say to football: thank you. I will not give it up... but I am grateful. It has been a wonderful journey."
Ospina jointly holds the record as Colombia's most capped player alongside James Rodriguez with 131 international appearances.
His career included spells at Atletico Nacional, Nice, Arsenal, Napoli and Al Nassr. ■
