KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia will modernize its airport security following drug smuggling incidents that have revealed gaps in its capabilities to stop increasingly sophisticated drug-smuggling methods, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Tuesday.

Currently, the facilities use older technology, while smugglers increasingly adopt new methods that help them evade detection, Anwar told parliament.

Anwar noted that 41 seizures involving contraband worth 42.38 million ringgit (about 10.4 million U.S. dollars) were recorded at the country's entry points between August and October this year. ■
