JERUSALEM, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Israel and Kazakhstan signed an agreement in Jerusalem to cooperate in space research and satellite technology, Israel's Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology said in a statement Tuesday.
The agreement was signed by Israeli Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Gila Gamliel and Baubek Oralmagambetov, chairman of Kazakhstan's Aerospace Committee, during a meeting of the two countries' joint commission on trade and economic cooperation.
It aims to promote joint activities in Earth observation, satellite data, space education and technology demonstrations, the statement said.
It also seeks to strengthen ties between Israeli and Kazakh space companies and encourage the exchange of information and expertise.
The Israeli ministry said space cooperation could benefit both countries in areas such as communications, navigation, agriculture, and early warning systems, describing space as increasingly important to national economies and security. ■
