KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon.com company, launched its "Semarak AI Malaysia" program on Wednesday at AWS Cloud and AI Day Kuala Lumpur, aiming to equip government officers, students, software companies and communities with the tools and skills to develop their own artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
Under the initiative, AWS is targeting up to 445,000 government officers and 10,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to support AI adoption in the public and private sectors, AWS said in a statement.
It focuses on moving beyond initial AI adoption by giving more Malaysians access to the skills and tools needed to build AI solutions themselves.
Through the program, AWS aims to build on its 29.2 billion ringgit (7.18 billion U.S. dollars) commitment to Malaysia by equipping civil servants and students with AI skills and helping local software companies develop solutions for Malaysian businesses and compete regionally. ■
