TOKYO, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- An off-duty police officer snatched a gun from a responding officer who was trying to restrain him and shot himself in Saitama Prefecture near Tokyo on Wednesday, local media reported.
The 37-year-old man was unconscious when he was taken to hospital following the incident, which occurred at around 10:05 a.m. local time at a waste disposal plant in Koshigaya City, Kyodo News reported.
The man was an officer with Kasukabe Police Station, the report said.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. ■
