NEW DELHI, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh after severe cyclonic storm Murasu battered the coastal area, officials said Wednesday.
The deaths took place on Tuesday evening in Bapatla district, about 70 km south of Amaravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
Heavy rains and strong winds triggered by the cyclone also damaged 312 houses, power transmission lines and standing crops across 52,459 hectares of land.
Murasu is the second cyclone to hit the state within a week. Last week, cyclone Arnab battered Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, killing at least 12 people. ■
