DHAKA, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh and South Korea have agreed to establish a government-private sector working group to identify priority areas for cooperation and facilitate business engagement.

The understanding was reached at a bilateral meeting between Bangladeshi Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and South Korean Trade Minister Park Jung-sung in Seoul on Monday, according to a statement from the Bangladeshi Finance Ministry on Tuesday.

It said the proposed government-private sector working group, involving the relevant government agencies and chambers of commerce, will focus on identifying priority reforms, investment opportunities, business facilitation measures and mechanisms for stronger private-sector engagement, including through public-private partnerships (PPPs).

During the meeting, the Bangladeshi minister encouraged greater use of government-to-government and PPP models to accelerate strategic infrastructure, energy and other priority investment projects, the statement said.

The South Korean minister, meanwhile, referred to various matters of interest raised by South Korean businesses operating in Bangladesh, with a view to further facilitating their operations and future investment. ■
