KABUL, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics personnel have seized 360 kg of narcotics and arrested two drug smugglers in northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, the office of the Deputy Minister of Interior for Counter-Narcotics said in a statement on Tuesday.
The drugs were discovered during targeted operations in Argo district, the statement said, adding that two suspects were arrested in connection with the case and their dossier has been referred to the judiciary for further investigation and prosecution.
In a separate but related crackdown on the illicit narcotics trade, police on Tuesday discovered and destroyed four drug-processing laboratories in southern Helmand province.
The Afghan government has reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts against the cultivation, production, and trafficking of illicit drugs across the country. ■
