BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- China will explore the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in financial regulation and services as part of efforts to strengthen oversight and improve financial support for the real economy, according to a report submitted for deliberation to the ongoing session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the country's top legislature.
The report on the country's financial work, submitted by the State Council, outlined five priorities for the next phase of financial development, including maintaining an appropriately accommodative monetary policy, strengthening financial regulation and improving financial services to the real economy.
China will make comprehensive use of various policy tools to ensure ample liquidity and continue evaluating and improving its monetary policy framework, the report said.
On financial regulation, the country will crack down on illegal financial activities, explore AI applications in financial management and services, and strengthen protection of financial consumers.
The country will also increase support for infrastructure networks, technological innovation and small businesses, the report said.
The report also called for expanding the international use of the yuan, attracting more foreign financial institutions and long-term capital, and further developing an independently controlled cross-border yuan payment system.
On risk prevention, it highlighted the use of monetary policy tools to support the capital market, and continued implementation of the property sector's "white-list" mechanism.
China has stepped up financial support for the real economy. From October 2025 to September 2026, new aggregate financing to the real economy totaled 33 trillion yuan (about 4.9 trillion U.S. dollars). A total of 88 companies went public on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges, with nearly 90 percent of them being high-tech firms. ■
