RIGA, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Latvia's 15th Saeima, or parliament, convened for its first session on Tuesday and elected Edvards Smiltens of the United List as speaker, marking his second term in the post.
Smiltens previously served as speaker of the Saeima from November 2022 to September 2023. The new 100-seat parliament was elected on Oct. 3 for a four-year term, with the United List emerging as the largest political force after winning 41 seats. ■
