RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Vitoria has parted ways with manager Jair Ventura after a poor run of results, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Monday.
The announcement followed a 2-0 away defeat to Coritiba on Saturday, a result that left the Salvador-based club 14th in the 20-team standings, just two points clear of the relegation zone with five matchdays remaining.
"We express our gratitude for all the achievements and memorable moments, and we wish him great success in the continuation of his career," Vitoria said in a statement.
Ventura, the son of Brazil 1970 FIFA World Cup winner Jairzinho, led Vitoria to 31 wins, 11 draws and 27 losses after taking charge in September 2025.
Vitoria did not immediately name a replacement for the 47-year-old, though local media reported that assistant coach Cleber dos Santos would assume the role on an interim basis. ■
