KUWAIT CITY, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Sheikha Al-Anoud Al-Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah, founder and honorary president of the Kuwait-China Friendship Club, said Tuesday that China's commitment to long-term development planning, technological innovation, sustainable development and institutional development aligns with Kuwait's goals of economic diversification and modernization, creating broad opportunities for deeper practical cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the Kuwait edition of the Global Dialogue, themed "Stability and Prosperity: China's Long-Term Governance and Global Development," Al-Anoud said China's long-term development planning focuses on promoting high-quality development, with innovation and technological progress serving as key drivers, and emphasizes smart infrastructure development and deeper international cooperation based on mutual benefit and respect for sovereignty.
Referring to the recently concluded fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, she said China attaches importance to strengthening Party governance, combating corruption, improving institutional development and enhancing governance capacity, which she described as essential foundations for ensuring the effective implementation of long-term development plans.
Al-Anoud said China's 15th Five-Year Plan and Kuwait Vision 2035 share priorities in multiple areas. As the two countries mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, the alignment of their development strategies offers broad prospects for deepening cooperation.
She identified four priority areas for future cooperation: smart cities and infrastructure, including Kuwait's Silk City and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port projects; renewable energy and sustainable development, particularly solar and wind power; digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G and cloud computing; and trade, investment and logistics infrastructure, leveraging Kuwait's position connecting Asia and the Middle East.
Al-Anoud also highlighted potential cooperation in cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection and early-warning systems, saying China's expertise could help Kuwait strengthen its digital security capabilities and enhance the protection of ports and oil facilities.
She said people-to-people exchanges remain an important foundation for the long-term development of bilateral relations.
Al-Anoud called for stronger cultural exchanges and closer ties between the two peoples alongside expanding economic and technological cooperation, to deepen mutual understanding and inject fresh momentum into bilateral relations.
The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, China Media Group and the Kuwait-China Friendship Club. ■
