BAGHDAD, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Five members of a family, including children, were killed early Tuesday in a residential fire in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the country's Civil Defense Directorate said in a statement.
The fire broke out at dawn, it said, noting that civil defense teams rushed to the scene, rescuing a young girl in critical condition while recovering the bodies of the five victims.
Following the incident, civil defense authorities issued an urgent public safety warning ahead of winter, urging citizens to exercise extreme caution when using heating appliances. ■
