BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Lautaro Di Lollo's first-half goal gave Boca Juniors a 1-0 home win over nine-man River Plate in Argentina's Clausura tournament on Sunday.
River Plate suffered its first blow in the 10th minute when Lucas Martinez Quarta was shown a straight red card for an ugly challenge on Miguel Merentiel.
Di Lollo capitalized on the numerical advantage 17 minutes later, latching onto Sebastian Villa's delivery from a corner with a header that beat goalkeeper Santiago Beltran at the far post.
River suffered another blow 11 minutes from time as Gonzalo Montiel was also dismissed for a bad foul on Lautaro Blanco.
"Our objective is to win the league," Boca head coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena told a post-match news conference.
"Today's result is a small reward for this group. We hope that we don't settle for this and that we can achieve bigger things for this club and the supporters so that they can have a happy end to the year."
The result leaves Boca second in the 15-team Zone A standings with 30 points, three behind leader Instituto Cordoba. River Plate is fourth in Zone B with 23 points. ■
