GENEVA, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Germany, Hungary, India, Qatar, South Korea, South Africa and Türkiye remain the seven countries interested in hosting the 2036 Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee confirmed Monday.
The list remains unchanged from the IOC's initial announcement on October 6, with no additional National Olympic Committees expressing interest before the October 31 deadline.
"This will be the first edition of the Olympic Games to be elected under the Fit for the Future changes," said Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, an IOC member and chair of its Future Host Commission for the Games of the Olympiad.
"The strong interest in hosting the 2036 Olympics shows that countries across the world recognise the enduring social and economic value the Games can have for local communities," she added.
Grabar-Kitarovic said the IOC would continue working with all seven interested parties as they develop their hosting proposals. ■
