PARIS, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's Sun Yingsha defeated compatriot Kuai Man 4-1 in the women's singles final, while South Korea's Jang Woo-jin rallied past German veteran Patrick Franziska in a seven-game thriller to claim the men's singles title at the 2026 WTT Champions Montpellier on Sunday.
After dropping the opening game 8-11, second seed Sun found her rhythm and won the next four games 11-7, 11-3, 11-9, 11-6.
"We know each other very well and are quite evenly matched. Kuai has shown significant progress and a very high level of play recently. So I wanted to play freely, without putting too much pressure on myself, and focus on challenging her throughout the match," Sun said after the match.
"France will also host the ITTF Singles World Cup next year, so I see this as a very good start to my time competing here," she added.
In the men's singles final, Jang, 31, came from 3-1 down to beat the 34-year-old Franziska 3-11, 11-7, 7-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-8. ■
