BANGKOK, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's manufacturing sector performance improved further in October, with output driven by rising new orders and firms optimistic about the growth outlook, though reduced workforce capacity led to accumulating backlogs, a survey showed on Monday.
The Southeast Asian country's manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) came in at 54.8 last month, climbing from 54.3 in September, reaching the highest level since December 2025 and signaling a sharp improvement in overall operating conditions, according to S&P Global.
A PMI reading above 50 indicates growth in the goods-producing sector, while a reading below 50 reflects contraction.
Production expanded at its fastest pace since last December, driven by improving demand, while growing customer bases and successful promotional efforts reportedly lifted new orders, S&P Global said in a statement.
As a result of surging new business inflows, the level of unfinished orders increased at the strongest pace in nearly a year. ■
