BAGHDAD, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi President Nizar Amedi and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed in a phone call on Sunday that dialogue and diplomacy should remain the primary means of resolving disputes in the region, the Iraqi presidency said in a statement.
The two leaders called for containing existing crises, de-escalating tensions and preventing conflicts from spreading, according to the statement.
They also highlighted the need for closer Arab, regional and international coordination to consolidate peace and stability.
The call came amid heightened regional instability marked by security risks in the Strait of Hormuz and escalating military clashes between the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen's Houthis. ■
