NUREMBERG, Germany, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Green technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainable solutions are among the highlights of the 2026 iENA international invention fair, which opened in the southern German city of Nuremberg on Saturday.

According to the organizer, nearly 600 inventions from more than 20 countries and regions are on display at the three-day event.

Environmental protection and energy technologies are particularly well represented, while the exhibits also cover areas including mobility, electrical engineering, information technology, teaching and research. About 98 percent of the inventions are being presented to the public for the first time in Nuremberg, it said.

AI also features prominently in the fair's accompanying program. The Nuremberg Innovation Congress, scheduled for Nov. 2, will address topics including AI and collaborative innovation.

The fair reflects issues currently concerning both business and society, said Henning Koenicke, managing director of exhibition organizer AFAG, adding that iENA provides an opportunity to connect with research partners and companies that can help bring their inventions to market.

Founded in 1948, the event aims to present the latest innovations from around the world to companies and the public, helping inventors explore business opportunities and gain feedback from potential users. ■
