BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Beijing on Friday.

Zhao said that China and Germany have always upheld mutual respect and trust, pursued common ground while reserving differences, and adhered to mutually beneficial cooperation, making bilateral relations mature and resilient.

China is willing to work with Germany to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, share development opportunities, promote openness and cooperation, safeguard peace and tranquility, and continuously enrich the connotation of the all-round strategic partnership between China and Germany, said Zhao.

The NPC of China stands ready to strengthen exchanges and interactions with the German Parliament to provide legal guarantees for pragmatic cooperation, said Zhao, welcoming members of the German Parliament and the European Parliament to visit China more frequently and learn about a true, all-round and developing China.

For his part, Steinmeier said that the Germany-China relationship is full of vitality, with a wide range of areas of cooperation. In the face of the new situation, both sides should enhance dialogue, deepen cooperation, properly handle differences and achieve win-win results.

It is hoped that the legislative bodies of the two countries will further enhance exchanges and interactions, he added. ■
