MANILA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' Mayon Volcano erupted on Friday in Albay province in the northern Philippines, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
The institute raised the alert level from 2 to Level 3, with Level 5 the highest on the scale. The volcano is located approximately 500 km southeast of Manila. ■
