JERUSALEM, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Airlines operating flights to Israel will be required to submit crew information at least 48 hours before scheduled departure, as part of new measures to strengthen Israel's civil aviation security, authorities said Thursday.
The new measures were announced in a statement by Israel's National Center for Passenger Information Analysis. The move followed Israel's decision to tighten aviation security requirements after an attempted attack aboard a Flydubai flight to Tel Aviv on Sept. 30, carried out by a co-pilot from Oman.
Under the new guidelines, airlines must submit an initial crew list at least 48 hours before departure, update the information to reflect any changes two hours prior, and provide a final crew list at departure.
The statement said the new requirements would give relevant Israeli authorities more preparation time than is customary internationally and are expected to improve Israel's aviation security response.
Until now, crew information was often reported shortly before departure or even after takeoff. ■
