SEOUL, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Foreign investors turned into aggressive net sellers of South Korean stocks in September, while continuing a net withdrawal from the domestic bond market for a second straight month, financial watchdog data showed Friday.

Offshore investors pivoted to net sellers in the local stock market, dumping a net 19.11 trillion won (14.3 billion U.S. dollars) worth of listed shares in just one month, according to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).

The equity sell-off was heavily concentrated on the main KOSPI market, where foreigners net sold 17.45 trillion won, while foreign sales of domestic stocks in the tech-heavy KOSDAQ market reached 1.66 trillion won.

Foreign holdings of local stocks totaled 2,296.0 trillion won at the end of September, taking up 34.8 percent of the total market capitalization.

Meanwhile, the domestic bond market saw foreign capital outflows for two consecutive months.

Overseas investors bought a net 127.0 billion won worth of local listed bonds last month.

With maturing debts worth 7.70 trillion won, the foreign net disinvestment in the domestic bond market reached 7.57 trillion won.

The foreign ownership of domestic listed bonds totaled 322.9 trillion won at the end of September, accounting for 11.2 percent of all listed bonds in the country. ■
