SEOUL, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's national tax revenue surged in double digits in September, driven by booming earnings from semiconductor companies, finance ministry data showed Friday.
The tax revenue totaled 55.2 trillion won (about 41.4 billion U.S. dollars) in September, up 91.6 percent from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
Corporate tax collection boosted the growth amid an explosive performance among chipmakers, such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.
Corporate tax soared 187.6 percent year on year to 36.2 trillion won in September. ■
