SINGAPORE, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Singapore will step up efforts to expand solar deployment as it targets 4 gigawatt-peak (GWp) of solar capacity by 2035, including identifying new installation sites, encouraging residential adoption and upgrading grid planning.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Energy Market Authority said that Singapore's Solar Photovoltaic Roadmap, last updated in 2020, will be updated to identify deployment opportunities across different surfaces and chart medium- to long-term development pathways.
For private landed homes, Singapore will explore a one-stop digital portal to provide homeowners with solar-related information, connect them with installers and facilitate group purchases.
The city-state will also assess electricity network capacity in landed residential estates and prepare the grid to accommodate increased flows of solar power.
"With Singapore's land constraints, we need to make the most of every opportunity to harness solar energy," said Puah Kok Keong, chief executive of the Energy Market Authority. ■
