HONG KONG, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The value of Hong Kong's total exports of goods soared 64.9 percent year on year to 762.6 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 97.2 billion U.S. dollars), marking the highest single-month growth rate in over 40 years, local data showed Wednesday.
The hike came after the 53-percent increase in August and represented the 20th consecutive month of double-digit growth, according to data from the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government.
Total imports jumped 57.8 percent to 808.9 billion Hong Kong dollars in September, the data showed. In the first nine months of this year, the value of total exports and imports increased by 45.2 and 45 percent, respectively.
A spokesperson for the HKSAR government said that exports to all major markets increased notably, driven by bustling trade of AI-related electronic products. ■
