CAIRO, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held separate phone calls with his Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) counterparts to discuss the latest regional developments amid "growing indications of a possible escalation," the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in statements on Wednesday.

The ministers reviewed efforts to contain the current crisis, the growing risk of escalation in recent days, and ways to promote political and peaceful solutions through dialogue, according to the ministry.

Abdelatty and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud agreed to continue close consultations and coordination both bilaterally and within the Regional Four ministerial mechanism, comprising Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye.

In his talk with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abdelatty stressed the need for regional countries to step up efforts to achieve peaceful solutions, bring all parties back to the political track, and prevent the crisis from escalating further. ■
