PHNOM PENH, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia has expanded its international air connectivity with South Korea through planned service to Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) in northwestern Siem Reap province, a civil aviation spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Sinn Chanserey Vutha, a secretary of state and spokesperson for Cambodia's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), said that Trinity Airways will operate daily seasonal flights from Dec. 24, 2026 to March 3, 2027 between Seoul-Incheon (ICN) and Siem Reap (SAI) using Boeing 737-800 aircraft during Cambodia's peak tourist season.
"The service supports Cambodia's tourism growth and its international connectivity," Vutha said in a news release, noting that the route is expected to drive more visitors to the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park.
The spokesperson added that the SSCA remains committed to facilitating airline operations, expanding market access, and collaborating with aviation and tourism partners to strengthen Cambodia's regional connectivity and economic development.
The new flight announcements come as Cambodia's broader travel sector faces persistent headwinds. According to recent SSCA data, the country's international air passenger traffic dropped 11 percent year on year to 4.55 million during the first nine months of 2026. ■
