KABUL, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's total trade volume exceeded 7.3 billion U.S. dollars over the past six months, according to data released on Tuesday by the General Statistics and Information Authority (GSIA).
Exports amounted to 724.2 million U.S. dollars, while imports reached more than 6.6 billion dollars, the authority said in a statement.
The country's principal imports included petroleum products and oils, machinery, transport equipment and spare parts, metal products, wheat and vegetable oil, goods that continue to attract strong demand amid reconstruction needs and domestic consumption.
Afghanistan's leading exports remained concentrated in dried fruits, medicinal plants and minerals. ■
