LONDON, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- A vessel has been reported on fire 63 nautical miles southeast of Al-Faw, Iraq, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said Monday.
The UKMTO said it had received multiple third-party reports of the fire. The crew's status, the extent of damage and any environmental impact remained unknown at the time of reporting.
Earlier, an outbound tanker was struck by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz on Oct. 23, leaving the vessel disabled, according to a separate UKMTO notice published on Monday.
The UKMTO said it had received a verified, delayed report of that incident. The crew were reported safe, while no damage assessment or environmental impact report was available.
Vessels were advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity while authorities investigate. ■
