MOSCOW, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and 17 others injured in a drone attack on the Russian city of Voronezh, regional Governor Alexander Gusev said on Monday.
Gusev said on Russian social media platform MAX that the attack sparked fires at several industrial facilities, a business center, an apartment building, two summer cottage settlements, a school stadium and a garage complex.
Damage to building facades and windows was reported in almost all districts of the city. Emergency services were working at the affected sites, he said, adding that air defenses shot down 113 drones over Voronezh and surrounding districts overnight and early Monday, including more than 70 over the city itself.
Meanwhile, Russian Railways announced on social media that overhead power supply was disrupted on the Tresvyatskaya-Somovo-Otrozhka-Voronezh railway section following the drone attack, prompting the suspension of train services on the section. A passenger train traveling from Anapa to Moscow was damaged at Somovo station. Five passengers were reported injured and were receiving necessary medical assistance. ■
