RIYADH, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The localization rate of military spending in Saudi Arabia rose to 27.30 percent by the end of 2025, up from 24.89 percent in 2024, the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) said on Sunday.

GAMI made the announcement during the Military Industries Forum held in Riyadh, adding that local content accounted for 40.91 percent of military spending, while the military industries sector contributed 7.468 billion Saudi riyals (about 1.99 billion U.S. dollars) to gross domestic product.

The figure marks further progress toward the kingdom's target of localizing more than 50 percent of military spending by 2030, the authority said.

GAMI Acting Governor Bandar Alkhorayef said Saudi Arabia is building an industrial base capable of meeting domestic demand, serving regional markets and supporting exports.

Alkhorayef added that GAMI is working to strengthen the sector's regulatory and legislative framework, facilitate investment, expand international partnerships and support technology and knowledge transfer.

The forum also saw the signing of four memoranda of understanding between GAMI and Saudi banks to strengthen financing solutions for the military industries sector. ■
