ISLAMABAD, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Seven people were killed when a passenger jeep plunged down a mountain slope on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir on Sunday, local officials said.

The accident occurred around noon when the jeep was travelling from one village to another in the mountainous area, covering only about three kilometers before the crash, according to police and administration officials.

The driver lost control of the vehicle while passing through a landslide-affected stretch of road, causing the jeep to plunge down the slope and roll over several times before coming to a halt, officials said.

The vehicle fell an estimated 1,000 to 1,500 feet below the road, killing all seven occupants at the scene, according to a police report.

Local residents retrieved the bodies, later joined by personnel of the Rescue 1122 emergency service, officials said. ■
