PHNOM PENH, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Officials, conservationists, and youth joined forces over the weekend to organize "Amazing Nature of Cambodia," an event celebrating the kingdom's rich natural heritage and encouraging public action to protect it.
Held on Saturday and Sunday at the AEON Mall Sen Sok City in Phnom Penh, the exhibition showcased Cambodia's forests, rivers, wetlands, and coastal ecosystems. It highlighted their critical role in providing clean water, food, and livelihoods, while fostering cultural identity and driving tourism opportunities that bolster the national economy.
Khvay Atitya, an undersecretary of state and spokesperson for the Ministry of Environment, said the event brought environmental education directly to urban communities and young people who have limited opportunities to experience these natural settings firsthand.
He emphasized that the ministry's circular strategy on the environment relies on strategic communication as a driving force to alter public behavior and engage stakeholders in achieving a clean, green, and sustainable future.
"Amazing Nature of Cambodia aligns perfectly with this strategy," Atitya said at the event. "It provides a vital platform for sharing knowledge and nurturing a deep love for the environment." ■
