TEHRAN, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and six others injured in Thursday's flash floods in Iran's northwestern West Azarbaijan province, the state-run IRIB news agency reported on Friday.
The floods, triggered by heavy rainfall, struck Salmas and Maku counties, having affected six villages, the report said, citing Hamid Mahboubi, managing director of the provincial Red Crescent Society.
The victims included a 10-year-old girl, said the Red Crescent official.
As 11 cars were reported to be stuck in the floods, more people were feared missing, he said, adding that search and rescue operations were continuing in the flood-stricken areas.
According to him, 24 residential buildings were damaged in the floods. ■
