KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Crude palm oil prices are expected to remain above 4,600 ringgit (about 1,127 U.S. dollars) per tonne in November, supported by seasonal production declines and sustained biodiesel consumption, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) said on Thursday.
India's recent reduction in vegetable oil import duties could also encourage a recovery in palm oil imports in the coming months, MPOC said in a statement.
However, easing energy prices and weaker-than-expected global vegetable oil consumption in the food sector, amid inflationary and economic pressures, could pose downside risks.
Malaysia's palm oil production rose 16.4 percent to 2.11 million tonnes in September, driven by higher fresh fruit bunch output and improved oil extraction rates.
MPOC expects production to have peaked in September before declining seasonally over the next five months. The anticipated slowdown is expected to draw down inventories, with Malaysian palm oil stocks projected to trend lower from November 2026 through February 2027.
"This should provide further support to palm oil prices in the final quarter of 2026," it said. ■
