SINGAPORE, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's industrial space occupancy rate edged down 0.2 percentage points quarter on quarter to 88.9 percent in the third quarter of 2026, remaining in line with the average rate over the past three years, according to official data released on Thursday.
The decline was attributed to users vacating older single-user and multiple-user factories earmarked for future redevelopment, as well as slower demand for suburban business parks, JTC, Singapore's government agency in charge of industrial progress, said in a statement.
In contrast, warehouse occupancy rose 0.3 percentage points during the quarter.
The rental index for all industrial space increased 0.5 percent quarter on quarter and 2.1 percent year on year, broadly in line with inflation.
Meanwhile, the industrial property price index rose 1 percent quarter on quarter and 4.2 percent year on year, amid resilient demand and low interest rates.
JTC said a pipeline of new industrial space remained available. Based on planning approvals as of end-September 2026, about 0.3 million square meters of industrial space could be completed in the fourth quarter.
An average of 1.2 million square meters of new industrial space is expected to be completed annually from 2027 to 2030, up from an average of about 1 million square meters over the past three years. ■
