TEHRAN, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Nine people were killed in a collision between a sedan and a tractor unit on an intercity road in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan early Wednesday, the official news agency IRNA reported.
The collision occurred at around 01:30 a.m. local time (2200 GMT on Tuesday), IRNA cited Mehdi Khamar, northern Sistan and Baluchestan's traffic police chief, as saying.
Khamar identified the victims as undocumented foreign nationals, all of whom were traveling in the sedan. Eight died at the scene, while the ninth succumbed to injuries after being taken to hospital, he said.
Bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan, Sistan and Baluchestan is a major entry point for undocumented migrants entering Iran. ■
