ACCRA, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ghana will send 13 athletes to compete in eight sports at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, which is the first Olympic event to be held in Africa.

Evans Yeboah, Ghana's chef de mission, told Xinhua on Tuesday, "There's a high expectation. We are going to give off our best and lift the flag of Ghana high."

Boxer Robert Amartey Tagoe said he was targeting a gold medal after completing his preparations for the Games.

"I am grateful to have been selected to represent Ghana. My target is to bring gold back to Ghana. We have gone through sufficient training sessions and we are ready," he said.

The Dakar Youth Olympics will take place from October 31 to November 13, bringing together approximately 2,700 athletes competing across 25 sports. ■
