A military training exercise in #Alberta, Canada, turned deadly when a fast-moving wildfire swept through troops conducting live-fire drills.
Four soldiers were killed and 39 others injured, including 19 critically.
Military officials knew about the fire for hours but believed it was contained enough for training to continue.
But then the wind shifted. The flames raced 1 km in just 36 seconds.
Prime Minister Mark Carney called it one of Canada's worst peacetime military tragedies on home soil, ordering flags lowered on federal buildings nationwide.
