RIYADH/SANAA/MANAMA, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Six Saudi citizens were injured and three houses and three vehicles damaged after a projectile launched by Yemen's Houthi group struck a residential area in Najran, southern Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Civil Defense said Sunday.
The civil defense said emergency teams responded to the incident, stressing that attempts to target civilian objects constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
Meanwhile, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported that 10 people were killed and 23 others injured in an alleged Saudi airstrike Sunday on a house in Yemen's northern province of Saada, most of them women and children.
There was no immediate comment from Saudi Arabia or the Saudi-led coalition.
Also on Sunday, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi called for effective international action to halt Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia.
Speaking at a meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council in the Bahraini capital Manama, Albudaiwi said the continued targeting of airports, civilian facilities and energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia required international action to stop the attacks and prevent further threats to regional security and stability.
The latest development came amid continued exchange of strikes between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, a main ally of Yemen's internationally recognized government.
Yemen has been mired in conflict since late 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and much of the country's north. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in Yemen in 2015 in support of the Yemeni government. ■
