CAIRO, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's parliament has postponed a vote on authorizing the military to defend Saudi Arabia until Oct. 26, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported Monday.
Local media reported that the session was prolonged after several lawmakers requested to speak.
The parliament held its first session on the issue on Sunday.
The National Defense Council decided on Sunday, at a meeting chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to provide Saudi Arabia with "all necessary and possible" forms of support to defend the kingdom's security and stability, amid sharply escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthi group. ■
