BAGHDAD, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Five personnel were slightly injured on Saturday when a stockpile of damaged ammunition exploded at a site of Iraq's paramilitary Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in eastern Baghdad, the PMF said in a statement.
Firefighters have brought the resulting blaze under control, the statement said, adding that specialized committees have launched an investigation into the incident's circumstances and causes, with findings to be announced upon completion.
The explosion came amid heightened regional instability, including continued tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and sharply escalating clashes between the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen's Houthis. ■
