RIGA, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Latvia's National Armed Forces lifted an orange air threat alert on Sunday for the municipalities of Bauska, Aizkraukle and Ogre.
The military had issued the alert earlier Sunday, urging residents to take shelter indoors, keep two walls between themselves and the outside, and follow official updates. It advised anyone who spotted a low-flying or suspicious object to keep away from it and call 112.
The alert did not specify the nature or origin of the threat.
Neighboring Lithuania had also sounded the alarm earlier Sunday morning, issuing red alerts for Panevezys and Siauliai counties and an initial yellow alert for Kaunas county. The alerts were later lifted after NATO fighter jets were scrambled to search for an unidentified object that may have entered Lithuanian airspace. ■
