CANBERRA, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Australian government on Sunday announced 1.2 million Australian dollars (about 780,000 U.S. dollars) in funding to improve menopause care as the country marked World Menopause Day.

Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care Rebecca White said in a statement that the funding would allow Jean Hailes for Women's Health, a nonprofit organization, to continue delivering its Menopause Education Program for another two years until 2028.

The program provides free online training for general practitioners, nurses, midwives and other health professionals to improve their ability to support women experiencing perimenopause and menopause.

The funding is part of the government's Women's Health Package, which aims to make menopause treatments more affordable, expand access to healthcare and improve public awareness. ■
