HANOI, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Vietnamese government has proposed a gross domestic product (GDP) growth target of at least 10 percent for 2027, local daily VnExpress reported Saturday.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung presented the proposal at the opening of the second session of the 16th National Assembly on Saturday.
The government aims to raise per capita GDP to 6,100 U.S. dollars in 2027 while keeping the increase in the consumer price index at around 4.5 percent, he said.
Hung said the government would continue to manage interest rates and exchange rates appropriately and take decisive and effective measures to lower lending rates, directing credit towards production and business activities, exports, science and technology, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Reviewing economic performance in 2026, the prime minister said 14 of the 15 socio-economic targets were expected to be met or exceeded.
According to the government's report, Vietnam's GDP grew 9.95 percent year on year in the third quarter and expanded 9.01 percent in the first nine months of 2026. ■
