RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Former striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he is considering an offer to join Corinthians as an assistant coach.
Hasselbaink revealed he discussed the possibility of taking on the role with newly appointed Corinthians manager and ex-Netherlands teammate Clarence Seedorf.
"I received a call from him [Seedorf]," Hasselbaink told Sky Sports. "I know him very well, obviously. He flew from Madrid to Sao Paulo yesterday, and we had a chat. I have a few things to think about."
Hasselbaink turned to coaching in 2013 after a playing career that included spells at Chelsea, Leeds United and Atletico Madrid, among other clubs.
The 54-year-old has not managed at senior professional level since 2022, when he parted ways with Burton Albion. Hasselbaink has also had stints in charge of FC Antwerp, Queens Park Rangers and Northampton Town.
"I want to come back, but ... obviously I have to think about it," Hasselbaink added.
According to Brazilian media reports, Spaniard Pablo Lopez and Brazilian Leo Porto have already agreed to join Seedorf's backroom staff.
Corinthians, one of Brazil's most successful clubs, is currently 16th in Brazil's 20-team standings, only clear of the relegation zone by virtue of a superior goal difference. ■
