HANOI, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and Vietnamese President To Lam on Friday called for replacing officials who fail to meet job requirements without waiting for them to commit disciplinary violations, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Addressing a nationwide conference to study and implement the resolution adopted at the 14th CPVCC's fourth plenum, Lam underscored the need to strengthen personnel development and talent utilization, and highlighted accountability in appointments and the prevention of power trading and group interests, according to the report.
Lam called for translating Party resolutions into tangible development outcomes, urging authorities to clarify responsibilities and review implementation capacity, coordination and officials' accountability when progress remains slow despite the removal of institutional and regulatory obstacles.
Highlighting the country's economic growth target of at least 10 percent in 2027, Lam said that sectors and localities must prepare growth plans based on available resources and implementation capacity.
He also stressed tighter oversight of power, stricter accountability in handling violations and greater public participation in monitoring policy implementation and Party building. ■
