RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Jose Manuel Lopez and Marlon Freitas scored in each half as Palmeiras secured a 2-1 away win over Fluminense in their Copa Libertadores semifinal first leg on Wednesday.
Argentina international forward Lopez put the visitors ahead by meeting Joaquin Piquerez's cross at the far post and firing in a first-time effort that left goalkeeper Fabio with no chance.
Freitas doubled the lead in the 85th minute, latching onto Felipe Anderson's headed pass and volleying into the bottom-left corner.
Fluminense pulled a goal back through Wesley Nata, who sent a powerful header past goalkeeper Carlos Miguel after Guga's cut-back.
The return leg will be played in Sao Paulo on October 21, with the winner on aggregate to face either Estudiantes or Flamengo in the final. ■
